Intimately connected with relief and disaster management
work in various parts of India from the seventies.

from 1964, deeply connected with editing of various kinds
for national and international publications.
Theatre Arts and Folklore:
Passionately involved in theatre arts, folklore research and
studies during the last three decades.
As Director of
Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti (New Delhi):
During his tenure as Director of Gandhi
Smriti and Darshan Samiti, New Delhi (1990 to 2001), an
autonomous national organization under Government of India
to promote the Gandhi heritage sites in India and promote
Gandhian Values besides taking care of the historic Birla
House (now Gandhi Smriti) and the Gandhi Darshan complex at
Rajghat for 12 years he strove to bring together the
academics, activists, Gandhi Museums, major Gandhian
Organizations in different parts of India, the Gandhi
Bhavans of Universities, as a part of his efforts to
strengthen social activism, academic programs, research and
documentation particularly on Gandhi. During this period he
also drew up the design and developed the program content of
the International Institute of Gandhian Studies attached to
the Gandhi Smriti and Darshan Samiti. It was during his
period the International Gandhi Peace Prize was
instituted to honour outstanding promoters of Gandhian
Values abroad.
During his stewardship he
organized 12 national level conferences and 40 regional
meetings in different parts of India from 1990 to 2001 with
the support and guidance of such national leaders as Sadiq
Ali, Usha Mehta, Sushila Nayyar, B.N. Pande, Ravindra Varma,
and K.S. Krishnaswamy.
